Two-Factor Authentication

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring not only a password but also a code from your authenticator app.

Important: Save Your Backup Codes

When you enable 2FA, you’ll receive a set of backup recovery codes. Save them in a secure place — they allow you to restore access to your account if you lose your authenticator device.

What is Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a security method that requires two different ways to verify your identity:

  1. Something you know — your password
  2. Something you have — your phone with an authenticator app

Even if someone learns your password, they won’t be able to log in without access to your authenticator device.

How 2FA Works

Install an Authenticator App

Download one of the supported apps on your smartphone:

  • Google Authenticator
  • Authy
  • Microsoft Authenticator
  • 1Password
  • Bitwarden

Enable 2FA in Settings

Log in to your profile security settings and find the “Two-Factor Authentication” section.

Scan the QR Code

Open your authenticator app and scan the displayed QR code. The app will start generating 6-digit codes every 30 seconds.

Enter Confirmation Code

Enter the current code from your authenticator app to confirm the setup.

Save Backup Codes

Write down the provided backup recovery codes and store them in a safe place. Each code can only be used once.

Tip: We recommend Authy or 1Password as they support device synchronization and cloud backup, making it easier to switch to a new device.

How to Use 2FA When Logging In

After enabling two-factor authentication, the login process will change:

Enter Email and Password

First, log in as usual using your email address and password.

Enter Code from App

After successfully entering your password, you’ll be prompted for a 6-digit code from your authenticator app.

Open Authenticator App

Open the authenticator app on your phone and find the code for this account.

Enter the Code

Enter the current 6-digit code. Codes update every 30 seconds, so use the current one.

Done!

After successfully verifying the code, you’ll be logged in.

Note: You can check “Trust this device” when logging in to avoid entering the 2FA code on this device for 30 days.

What to Do If You Lose Your Device

If you’ve lost access to your authenticator device:

Use a Backup Recovery Code

Go to Login Page

Open AUTH and start the login process.

Enter Email and Password

Log in as usual with your email and password.

Select “Use Backup Code”

When prompted for a 2FA code, find and click the “Use backup recovery code” link.

Enter Backup Code

Enter one of your saved backup codes. Remember that each code can only be used once.

Reconfigure 2FA

After logging in, immediately go to security settings and set up 2FA on a new device.

Contact Support

If you don’t have backup codes:

  1. Contact our support team
  2. Be prepared to verify your identity using profile information
  3. The recovery process may take several days for security verification

Important: Without backup codes, the access recovery process will be significantly more difficult and time-consuming. Always save your backup codes in a reliable location!

How to Disable 2FA

If you need to disable two-factor authentication:

Log Into Your Account

Log in to your account using your password and 2FA code.

Open Security Settings

Go to your profile settings and find the “Two-Factor Authentication” section.

Click “Disable 2FA”

Find and click the button to disable two-factor authentication.

Confirm Action

Confirm disabling by entering your current password and code from the authenticator app.

Security Warning: Disabling 2FA significantly reduces the security of your account. We strongly recommend keeping 2FA enabled.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I lost my phone with the authenticator app?

If you lost your phone:

  1. Use one of your backup recovery codes to log in
  2. After logging in, immediately go to security settings
  3. Disable the old 2FA configuration
  4. Set up 2FA again on a new device
  5. Save the new backup codes

If you don’t have backup codes, contact support for identity verification and access recovery.

The code from the app doesn’t work. What should I do?

If codes from the authenticator app aren’t being accepted:

  1. Check device time — TOTP codes depend on accurate time. Make sure the time on your phone is automatically synchronized
  2. Wait for a new code — if the code is close to expiring (blinking), wait for a new code
  3. Check the correct account — make sure you’re entering the code for the correct account in the app
  4. Use a backup code — if the problem persists, log in using a backup code

Can I use 2FA on multiple devices?

Yes, you can set up the same account on multiple devices:

  1. When first setting up 2FA, scan the QR code on all devices you want to use
  2. All devices will generate identical codes at the same time
  3. You can use any of these devices to log in

Some apps (like Authy) also support device synchronization via the cloud.

How do I transfer 2FA to a new phone?

There are several ways:

Method 1: Cloud Backup (Authy, 1Password)

  • If you use an app with cloud backup, simply install the app on your new device and log in to your account

Method 2: Reconfiguration

  1. While you still have access to your old device, log in to your account
  2. Disable 2FA in security settings
  3. Enable 2FA again and scan the QR code on your new device
  4. Save the new backup codes

Method 3: Backup Codes

  • If you’ve already lost your old device, use a backup code to log in, then set up 2FA again on your new device

Is it safe to use apps with cloud synchronization?

Yes, modern authenticator apps with cloud synchronization (Authy, 1Password, Bitwarden) are safe when used correctly:

  • Data is encrypted before being sent to the cloud
  • End-to-end encryption is used
  • A master password is required to access the data

Benefits of cloud synchronization:

  • Automatic backup
  • Easy transition to a new device
  • Access from multiple devices simultaneously

If you prefer maximum security without cloud storage, use Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator without enabling synchronization.
